Please don’t apply decals without reading instructions below
Applying decals without reading the instructions can lead to mistakes or damage occurring.
Because of their 3-layer structure and their intricate and distinct elements, applying decals is more complicated than other conventional stickers. Incorrect application can cause some details to be left behind on the backing or top film layer. Also, decals have very strong adhesion that gets stronger with time. Carelessly applying can cause the decal to warp or distort on the applied surface. Therefore, make sure to take your time to read the instructions provided so that you can apply decals with zero mistakes or damage.
Decals adhere to hard, smooth surfaces such as: Metal, Glass, Plastic & Ceramics (even wood). Due to the top removable transfer film being sticky, they are not suited for use on paper & cardboard.
After application, allow at least 48 hours to achieve maximum adhesive strength. We are not responsible for errors with applying decals.
PRO TIP: The decal label (top black label part) is made from the same decal material, so you can use it as a test prior to applying the decals (use as a large sample or cut it up for smaller tests). Can also be used as a removal test.
1. Trim decal
Using scissors or a razor blade, trim the decal you wish to apply, leaving some blank space around it. It’s good to have a little blank space to be able to hold the decal while applying, the less material around the decal – the harder to hold while applying.
2. Clean surface
Thoroughly clean the area where the decal is to be applied, warm soapy water works well. Allow time to dry. You may wish to use rubbing alcohol on the application surface to make sure that it is cleaned of all oils & chemicals. The cleaner the surface, the better the adhesion.
3. Peel backer
Separate and peel the backing film off making sure the decal sticks to the top transfer film that is on the front of the decal. If the decal is sticking to the backing and not the top transfer tape, you need to apply pressure in that area until it does (alternatively, you can try peeling from the opposite side).
4. Position decal
Position the decal where you would like it to be without placing it onto the surface. Be sure to position the decal carefully, as once it touches the surface, the bond is very strong, and you may not be able to reposition it, and you may ruin the decal. It’s best to gently rub the decal down from one side, to the other, to prevent air bubbles from being trapped under the decal.
5. Press down
Once the decal is where you want it (still under the top transfer film), apply pressure to all the decal. You may use your fingernails or with the edge of credit card. The more you press down, the better the adhesion.
6. Remove top transfer sheet
Now it is time to remove the top transfer film. Start at a corner and slowly and evenly pull off the transfer film, parallel to the surface. Do not pull directly away from the surface or you may pull on the decal. Peeling slowly is important, as you will be able to see any decal lift that can be easily remedied. If you see the decal lifting off with the top transfer film, you will need to reapply some pressure, so it bonds to the surface better. If any air bubbles appear after applying – simply prick a small hole into the bubble using a needle – and squeeze the air out.
Our decals are manufactured to be permanent and long lasting, though removal is possible.
Using a glass razor scraper will get the decal off, but you will risk damaging the surface under the decal. DO NOT use a razor blade/scraper if you are worried about damaging the surface. We are not responsible for surface damage if decals are removed incorrectly or carelessly.
To prevent surface damage, we recommend gently heating up the decal with either a heat gun or blow hair dryer (heat setting), then while warm the glue is softened, allowing it to be scraped off with a credit/bank card. Any glue residue will come off with a glue removal solvent.
